Internship – Quality Data Analyst Intern

The Division Plasma Control Technologies (PCT) is Comet’s largest division and a global leader in developing and producing high-performance Vacuum Capacitors, RF Matches and RF Generators for the semiconductor industry.
What will you do?
In this internship role, you will:
- Identify and apply appropriate methods to acquire, explore, cleanse, and fuse data from different sources.
- Analyze data to identify or resolve operational problems.
- Develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and visualizations to support business decision-making.
- Support ad hoc data, SQL query for handling and creating databases, analysis, and debugging requests from cross-functional stakeholders.
- Work with Customer Quality Engineers to review return/failure data and drive data-based decision making to prioritize internal actions for quality and customer satisfaction improvement.
- Collaborate, lead, and execute analytics projects end-to-end.
What will you learn?
- Gain exposure and developing proficiency with various data analytics methods to acquire, explore, cleanse, and fuse data from different sources.
- Develop knowledge of SQL queries for handling and creating databases, as well as gaining experience in data analysis, debugging requests, and ad hoc data requests from cross-functional stakeholders.
- Understanding of how to make data visually appealing and simple to both navigate and comprehend for end-users using Power BI.
What are the working details?
- This internship is targeted for the 2024 summer break period and may have some flexibility depending on individual Student Intern requests and availability.
- The internship will last approximately 3-months (up to 6-months based on Company needs and Student Intern availability).
- Working hours are flexible (generally within normal business hours, but can be flexible based on Company need and Student Intern availability)
- To ensure effective collaboration, communication, training, team interaction, continued project alignment, and optimal Intern learning experience, this role will be performed on-site at Comet location in San Jose.
- Working hours per week are estimated minimum of 16 hours per week up to 40 hours per week if desired by Intern.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking Internship candidates who:
- Must be currently enrolled in the final semester of an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Data Analytics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems program.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI, data modeling, and the ability to communicate technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders. Strong knowledge of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and Power Query.
- Have a good knowledge of SQL, and relational database systems.
- Experience in SAP system will be an added advantage.
- Comfort with a scripting language (e.g., Python)
- Familiar with standard Office tools, such as Word, Excel, Visio
