POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the Project Manager, the Project Engineer Intern is responsible for maintaining and improving the reputation of the company, its products, and its services, maximizing the company’s profitability, and ensuring its long-term growth through effective management and leadership of the company’s construction projects. The project engineer is responsible for all aspects of a project’s success from its commencement to the successful move-in of our client and the timely close-out of all related issues. As well as coordinating with the Superintendent to maintain OTIB (on time/in budget).
Position Summary:
- Able to function in an efficient and professional office environment and juggle multiple tasks for multiple projects without sacrificing performance.
- Must have the ability to travel to projects and devote reasonably necessary time to accomplish duties and responsibilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to think on your feet.
- The willingness to take responsibility and be fully accountable for their project is critically important.
- Must be detail oriented but also able to view the “big picture.”
- Strong leadership and organizational skills are important.
- Very systems oriented. Microsoft Office proficient; knowledge of Microsoft Project and Procore a plus.
- Fair and reasonable, yet forceful.
- Must be a leader that treats everyone professionally and respectfully.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Pursuing college degree (preferably in Construction Management or related field).
- Construction experience (preferably in multifamily construction)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Inter-Relationships:
- Able to work and communicate well with people of all levels, both in the office and in the field.

Specific Responsibilities:
- Manages assigned aspects of the project including budget, schedule, quality, and personnel.
- Maintains consistent and proactive communication with all stakeholders to avoid unnecessary downtime.
- Ensures that Stellar receives attentive and high-quality service before, during, and after the construction process.
- Maintains professional relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and fellow employees. Creates a “win-win” environment for all project participants.
- Promotes and exemplifies Stellar’s vision both internally and externally.
- Assists in resolving project problems, disputes, and open issues in a timely and fair manner.
- Recognizes others for their contributions to the Company and our projects.
- Assists in developing, distributing, and updating project schedules. Focuses the attention of all parties involved with the project on the schedule’s critical path to ensure deadlines are met.
- Assists in forecasting and addressing budgeting and scheduling problems.
- Administrates and is responsible for project commencement activities, submittal processing, distribution of revised plans and ASIs, submission and follow-up of RFIs, project meetings, status reports/Open Items List, punch lists
- Maintains electronic recordkeeping system per the Company’s SOP on SharePoint.
- Meets regularly with superintendent and others as necessary to review schedule and other project issues.
- Interacts with municipalities and government authorities as required to comply with building and residential codes.
- Strives to finalize all open construction items within 30 days of the client’s move-in.
- Participates in appropriate continuing education activities such as OSHA training, program, and project management training, related academic education, etc.
- Manages design team to ensure efficient and timely completion in the best interest of the client and the Company.
- Site Inspections to ensure quality control.
- Management of submittals and RFI’s though Procore and ensuring subs and AE are making the schedule requirements.
