POSITION OVERVIEW
Dawson Construction LLC’s safety internship program provides construction safety students with an opportunity to gain hands-on exposure in their chosen field. Interns can work during or between academic sessions.
While interning with Dawson, construction safety students are assigned to the company safety program, and will include going to construction job sites and construction yards, as well as auditing all safety aspects of the company.
Goals and Objectives
- Interns learn various areas of a commercial construction safety program.
- Complete a meaningful experience that prepares interns for a successful transition to challenging and rewarding careers.
- Expose interns to a wide range of construction safety activities, and let them dive deep into a few areas.
Duties:
Provide support to the corporate safety program and job sites, with assignments that can include:
- Following safety protocols in a Safety First environment.
- Learning hands on skills.
- Supporting job sites or administrative departments related to safety.
- Gathering information and auditing.
- Completing projects and reports.
- Reading safety plans and documenting safety incident details.
Requirements
- Ideal candidate will be an incoming junior or senior in college, currently enrolled in a 4-year institution majoring in Safety/Quality and/or Risk Management preferred; High school diploma or GED required.
- OSHA 30 Certification preferred
- Basic knowledge of construction safety, current Federal OSHA, and WA DOSH requirements
- Ability to work effectively with a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to travel 10% of the time
- Fluency in Spanish preferred
- All qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Compensation - $22 to $25 per hour
