POSITION DESCRIPTION
We are looking for an intern with expertise in data management, as well as experience in assessing and managing financial and operational performance across Monarch’s portfolio, including renewable energy, affordable housing, and historic rehabilitation projects. Prior experience with SQL or Power BI is a plus.
DUTIES
· Work with the renewable energy asset management team to enter, process, manage, and query data within our software management system (MRI’s Investment Central)
· Support the development of dashboards using SQL and dashboarding tools (Power BI) for summarization and reporting of key business metrics
· Support the asset management team in reviewing quarterly project-level operating reports to monitor portfolio operational and financial performance; identify deviations from model and support team to resolve operational issues that are impacting performance
· Review tax equity operating agreements, financial statements, and tax equity models as needed
· Complete ad-hoc data projects
· Review and manage Conditions Precedent (CPs) with respect to Investor Equity Requests including Independent Engineer bringdowns, appraisals, cost segregations, and final funding models
· Assist with tracking & recording construction progress in MRI
· Collect and review annual tax documents to confirm they are in compliance with agreements
· Support asset management team in the performance of asset valuations associated with project dispositions at the end of the compliance period
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
· In pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or analytical field, such as business, statistics, economics, finance, or accounting with a desire to pursue a career in the renewable energy sector
· Two years of undergraduate coursework completed by the start of the internship
· 3.0 GPA (or greater)
· Familiarity with contractual documents including Operating Agreements
· Demonstrated aptitude applying analytical tools such as Microsoft Excel with general understanding of financial models
· Demonstrated understanding of Microsoft Office products
· Strong problem-solving skills as well as the ability to review and analyze financial and technical data
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish effective working relationships and articulate complex issues
· Good organization skills and attention to detail
· SQL knowledge a plus
· Legally eligible to work in the United States
